UAE Startups Just Got a Major AI Boost

26 startups join first-of-its-kind program offering mentorship, Google Cloud credits up to US$300K, and global networks to scale AI innovation under Hub71+ AI.

Imagine being a founder in the middle of Abu Dhabi’s thriving tech ecosystem — you’ve already secured early-stage support, built a promising AI solution, and now, you’re about to unlock global networks, mentorship from tech giants, and up to US$300,000 in resources to take your startup to the next level. That’s the reality today for 26 startups at Hub71, Abu Dhabi’s global tech ecosystem, thanks to a game-changing partnership with Google.

Recently launched, the Google for Startups Accelerator is now officially live in the UAE capital. It’s the first joint program of its kind between Google and Hub71, and it’s focused on scaling AI-driven startups under Hub71+ AI, the ecosystem’s dedicated vertical for artificial intelligence innovation.

So what does this mean for the startups?

Over the next three months, the selected cohort will dive into a tailored curriculum designed to fast-track their growth. But it’s not just theory — this accelerator is packed with real-world tools and resources. Think exclusive access to Google’s global network of mentors, engineers, product leaders, and Google Cloud credits. In fact, the top-performing startups could receive up to US$300,000 in credits, the highest tier support offered globally by Google through this program. And that’s just the beginning.

These startups are no strangers to support. Many of them have already benefited from up to AED 500,000 in early-stage funding via Hub71 — split between AED 250,000 in cash (via SAFE note) and AED 250,000 in in-kind support. Now, as part of this accelerator, they’ll be embedded deeper into the Hub71+ AI ecosystem, gaining access to a powerful network of business development opportunities, technical experts, and partnerships that could propel them far beyond the region.

Speaking about the program, Ahmad Ali Alwan, CEO of Hub71, captured the sentiment well:
“Bringing the Google for Startups Accelerator to Abu Dhabi is a key milestone in advancing our position as a global centre for AI innovation. Together with Google, we are empowering founders to develop transformative technologies that address real-world challenges.”

And from Google’s side, Doron Avni, VP of Government Affairs & Public Policy for Emerging Markets, emphasised the transformative potential:
“Startups are at the forefront of solving critical challenges with AI, and our partnership with Hub71 is about equipping them with the resources to go further, faster.”

In addition to world-class mentorship and technical expertise, Google is offering founders tailored playbooks, toolkits, and — perhaps most importantly — introductions to Alphabet’s vast network and investment arms, opening new doors to capital and customers alike.

This isn’t a sudden move either. It follows a strategic agreement signed in late 2024 to bring Google’s startup-focused initiatives to Abu Dhabi — a clear reflection of both sides’ long-term commitment to building a robust digital economy centred around AI.

With Abu Dhabi doubling down on emerging tech and global partnerships, the launch of this accelerator is more than just another program. It’s a clear signal that the emirate is serious about becoming a global AI hub — and it's doing it by backing bold founders ready to shape the future from the heart of the UAE.
