Amazon to reportedly sell Alexa-powered Bluetooth earbuds

First moves of the company into the mobile world

The Apple airpods have been a stand-out success story in the last few years. Initially announced in December 2016, the Airpods have quickly become the best-selling bluetooth earphones in the world, with the iconic white earpieces flying off the counters. However, Apple’s competition does not sit idly by. Some competitors, like Samsung and Xiaomi, have already launched their own version of the bluetooth earphones, but have yet to become as popular as Apple’s.

Recently, Amazon announced that it is ready to take on Apple with a cheaper, Alexa-powered set of wireless earbuds. If successful, the new pair of earbuds would carve out a space for the popular digital assistant, which is already present in many of the accessories that Amazon sells as part of its ecosystem. Moreover, it would be one of the first moves of the company into the mobile world, which it previously had not entered successfully on a large scale.
