Worldwide Amazon seller terms changed after German antitrust action

The U.S. antitrust probe continues.

Following the probe, Amazon has agreed to make changes to its seller agreements, which include:

  1. Bringing liability provisions up to European standards for B2B relations

  2. Abjucating its unlimited rights to terminate or block accounts without justification.

  3. Removing their exclusive rights to choose the court of jurisdiction in matters of dispute.

  4. Reduction in confidentiality over what sellers can talk about Amazon in public

  5. Reduction is product information rights and quality requirements.Germany is Amazon’s largest market in Europe. So when the Germany’s regulator, the Federal Cartel Office, received a large number of complaints from sellers on the platform, it started investigating the e-commerce giant in November 2018.

The changes will become effective August 16th.

Amazon’s business term changes have come much to the delight of many sellers in the UAE, India and beyond, as the changes have been implemented for Amazon’s worldwide marketplace. Meanwhile U.S. probe into Amazon’s antitrust issues continue. However, we believe these changes will benefit Amazon during the probe.
