Statevolt's Gigafactory Set to Transform Energy Storage Landscape

Statevolt Emirates, led by Lars Carlstrom, plans a battery cell factory in UAE. With RAKEZ support, the project aims to create jobs and lead green industrialisation.

In a move towards green industrialisation, Statevolt, has unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art battery cell Gigafactory in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. With a capital expenditure of US$3.2 billion, the venture, dubbed Statevolt Emirates, signifies a leap forward in advancing technological innovation within the energy storage sector.

Set to be constructed in the Al Ghail Industrial Zone in RAKEZ, the Gigafactory will span across 60 hectares and is designed to employ a modular approach, facilitating rapid market entry and enabling diversified production based on technology readiness. Initial production will focus on semi-solid state battery cells, with plans to transition to solid state battery cells upon reaching full capacity.

Under the leadership of entrepreneur Lars Carlstrom, Statevolt Emirates aims to spearhead the transition towards low-carbon energy solutions while creating skilled job opportunities. With an estimated 2,500 direct job openings, the project is meant to lead substantial economic growth in Ras Al Khaimah and the surrounding region.

Commenting on the initiative, Lars Carlstrom, Founder-CEO of Statevolt, stated about the company's commitment to sustainability, and efficiency. He highlighted the importance of the Ras Al Khaimah Gigafactory in meeting the rising demand for energy storage solutions, particularly in regions such as Africa, India, the UAE, and the broader Middle East.

RAKEZ, in collaboration with Statevolt, has full support for the Gigafactory project, ensuring seamless logistics and sufficient energy supply for optimal operation. Ramy Jallad, CEO of RAKEZ Group, addressed the partnership as a milestone towards a greener future, aligning with the emirate’s Energy Efficiency and Renewables Strategy 2040.

Following the land agreement, Statevolt anticipates commencing production by the end of 2026, pending the approval of building permits. This attempt states the UAE's vision to emerge as a leading hub for green technology and sustainable industrial development, reaffirming its commitment to global energy transformation.

In a world increasingly reliant on renewable energy sources, Statevolt's investment in battery technology signifies an important step towards achieving a more sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem.
