RTA launches WhatsApp service

You can add +971 58 800 9090 to your contacts to chat with them.

RTA has launched its WhatsApp service whereby people can get all the information they need regarding payment of fines, as well as many other services.

RTA announced this service via Twitter with the video below:

Our call to the customer care centre asking about the service suggested that people can get answers to all their queries. When we messaged RTA on its WhatsApp number, we received the following message:

The responses from RTA's WhatsApp were almost immediate, suggesting the use of AI chatbox to monitor the platform.

So far it seems that the platform does not connect you to a real person if it cannot manage your query. At one point, it responded with "you can talk to our customer care specialist at [RTA Chatbox] or you can contact RTA call centre on 8009090."

WhatsApp is growing in popularity, especially for businesses. It is no longer just a tool for businesses to communicate with their audience but a platform that facilitates trade and e-commerce. Moreover, chatboxes powered by AI are increasingly being adopted by businesses to answer simple customer queries.

With time we think that the RTA WhatsApp will be able to handle more queries. We would be excited if in the future they launched a payment platform integrated with WhatsApp to help people pay fines and top up Nol cards. Given their commitment for improving operations and customer service, this would come as a welcome move by many.
