Africa shows promising renewable energy projects

Renewable energy has been at the forefront of many countries’ agendas. Germany, for example, is one of the frontrunners when it comes to renewable energy – there were news articles at the beginning of 2018 that the country reached almost 100% renewable energy, an impressive feat. It makes sense for countries to care about renewable energy, but what about investors? Very often, they shy away from these projects for various reasons, ultimately leading to lower expected returns.

However, more recently, there has been a shift in the investors’ focus and beliefs. Nowadays, it is not believed to be a danger to invest in renewable energy, it is seen as an opportunity. In Africa, the quickly developing continent, there are plenty of green opportunities for investors to be interested in, which has not gone unnoticed. The UAE, for example, is the second largest investor in Africa in 2016, coming right behind China. Hence, there must be something that attracts governments and investors to this new market.
