Transforming UAE's Industrial Landscape: ITTI Guide Unveils Path to US$1.5 Billion Market

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology unveils the ITTI Use-Case Guide, spotlighting high-impact Industry 4.0 technologies and sustainability initiatives, aiming to support innovation and competitiveness.

To push the industrial landscape of the UAE into the realm of technology and sustainability, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology has introduced the Industrial Technology Transformation Index Use-Case Guide. This guide is crafted to offer manufacturers and stakeholders profound insights and recommendations on important Industry 4.0 technologies and sector-specific sustainability initiatives.

Derived from intensive ITTI assessments, the guide encapsulates over 90 high-impact use cases selected from a pool of more than 1,530 Industry 4.0 applications and sustainability endeavours. With a projected market opportunity amounting to AED 1.5 billion, the guide also delves into advanced technology trends across nine priority sectors within the UAE’s industrial landscape.

Aligned with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology "Operation 300Bn," the initiative aims to favour innovation by expediting the adoption of advanced technologies throughout the industrial value chain. Moreover, it seeks to support the growth of local industries while enhancing their global competitiveness.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, expressed the Ministry's commitment to nurturing the industrial and technological sectors in alignment with the visionary leadership of the UAE. He emphasised the establishment of an enabling ecosystem, boasting a legal framework, competitive incentives, and ample investment opportunities. Dr. Al Jaber highlighted the Ministry's efforts in favouring an environment conducive to the competitiveness of national industries, thereby augmenting their contribution to the GDP.

Furthermore, the Minister stated the Ministry's dedication to promoting the adoption of AI applications in industry, citing the launch of the Industrial Technology Transformation Index Use-Case Guide as an important step in this direction. He asserted that the guide serves as a tool empowering industrial leaders to raise technological transformation and implement Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions such as AI and IoT.

Her Excellency Sarah AlAmiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, lauded the ITTI Use-Case Guide as a crucial resource empowering industry leaders to make informed decisions, thereby making the way for a more sustainable manufacturing future. She highlighted the adoption rates of sustainability initiatives and Industry 4.0 use cases among ITTI-assessed companies, indicating a sector ripe with opportunities for performance and efficiency enhancement, particularly among SMEs.

Her Excellency AlAmiri further elaborated on the Ministry's commitment to leading technology adoption through the Technology Transformation Program, emphasising the program's role in building capabilities, disseminating knowledge, providing incentives, and favouring an environment for experimentation. She emphasised that these efforts are geared towards the industrial sector and positioning the UAE as a global hub for advanced industries.

The ITTI Use-Case Guide was unveiled during a masterclass attended by C-Suite leaders from industrial companies and SMEs, alongside tech providers and academia. Titled ‘The Innovation Imperative: Future-Proofing Your Manufacturing with Cutting-Edge Tech,’ the masterclass, hosted at the Ministry's Dubai headquarters, facilitated discussions on top use cases, strategies, problem-solving insights, and technologies.

Participants engaged in discourse surrounding the integration of new use cases into their operations, deliberating on potential opportunities and challenges.

Developed based on assessment reports, the guide delineates sector-specific Industry 4.0 use cases across 20 charters, laying a solid foundation for manufacturers in the UAE to lead digital transformation and seize market opportunities. Notable among the top potential market opportunities outlined in the ITTI Use Case Guide are ‘Predictive Maintenance for Shopfloor Machinery’ and ‘Automating Enterprise Processes Using RPAs,’ among others.

The ITTI, launched under the Technology Transformation Program in February 2023, serves as a tool for measuring digital and sustainability maturity within plants, offering customised roadmaps for smarter, more sustainable production. Developed in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, the index aims to gauge Industry 4.0 and sustainability readiness, leading decarbonisation and sustainability in alignment with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 initiative.
