We all put in our passwords and other data in website forms on a daily basis. Most of the time, it’s not even given a second thought—simply a process to get through in order to get what is wanted, be it entertainment, banking services, or something else. However, the protection of that data is not always as good as it should be. Every so often, we hear about so-called data breaches at large corporation, where millions (sometimes even billions!) of accounts are compromised and data is stolen.
Facebook’s data breaches are among the more well-known ones, with roughly 87 million records breached, but there are data breaches of much larger magnitudes.
