Expo 2020 announces initiative to encourage arts

Expo 2020 made a recent announcement in an attempt to support the local arts scene. It announced that it will launch 'Atelier 2020' - a project that initiates world-class training courses in the fields of make-up and costume design (first of its kind in the region).

Expo 2020 has signed agreements with London College of Make-up and the Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, DIDI, to chalk out specialised courses for UAE students. The project will run alongside the region's first opera, Al Wasl.

Atelier 2020 is accepting applications and is set to offer applicants top-notch qualifications, thereby allowing them to dive headfirst into the behind-the-scenes careers in the theatre and movie industry.

About the course structure:

1) London College of Make-up, Dubai offers three make-up courses that last for eight weeks. These will focus on special effects, theatre and stage, and fashion and media make-up.

2) DIDI's costume design for theatre courses forms the DIDI Bachelor of Design programme and will teach students visual literacy and relevant technological skills.

3) The courses were outlined by the Al Wasl team.
