Customer acquisition dominates Enabling Ecommerce event

150 invitation-only attendees joined key speakers from Dubai South, Network International, DHL and Aramex

We hosted a special event, co-hosted with Dubai South, on 26 February 2020 for ecommerce startups around UAE. Attended by around 150 SME owners & C-Suite Executives, the event focused on e-commerce and the ecosystem around it including retail, logistics, shipping and last-mile deliveries.

From building e-commerce start-ups to exploring omnichannel retail, the event was kicked off by Mohsen Ahmed, CEO Logistics District, Dubai South, who shared his insight into this sector, Dubai’s vision for the ecommerce sector and how Dubai South are enabling this by providing the cost-effective solution for this sector. In addition, the speaking line-up included senior representatives from Network International, DHL, and Aramex who share trends, tips and special incentives for e-commerce startups.

The sessions also featured personal case studies from Joi Gifs and Deliver2Mum who shared their personal journeys and their successful go-to-market strategies.

The dominant message throughout the morning was a focus on customer acquisition and strategies around this being the key to success. In a special panel that included successful startups including two practitioners of B2B ecommerce, customer acquisition was the strategy for their success and growth across the region. According to Manoj Nakra, Co-founder, SmartGlobal Solutions and Services and the moderator for this session, “customer acquisition should be an operational expense rather than a marketing one”. Ritesh Tilani, Founder at Enhance & Co-CEO at Joi Gifts, attributed the core of his success to great UX (user experience) on his site.

The last session of the event was devoted to “Omnichannel” moderated by Marcus Berg, Director of Product Development, Logistics District at Dubai South and included some of the big names in the retail sector combining off-site with on-site presence.

Our next event around e-commerce will be on 4 March 2020 at Dubai Future Foundation.
