This Venture Capital firm just raised $35m to invest in North Africa

No place is as famous as the Silicon Valley when it comes to start-ups, venture capitalists, and rag-to-riches stories. From the recent explosion in e-scooter start-ups such as Bird and Lime to the established giants like Facebook and Airbnb, Silicon Valley has created many household-name conglomerates.

However, Silicon Valley is not the only place with an entrepreneurial spirit. Over the last few years, start-ups and investments in them have flourished in the MENA region; with start-ups, government initiatives, co-working spaces and other enablers popping up all over the place. Recently, Sawari Ventures, an Egyptian Venture Capital firm, raised $35 million as part of its $70 million fund, which it aims to invest into promising tech-enabled start-ups in Northern Africa.
