Resal raises $800,000 in its Pre-Series A funding

Saudi gifting e-commerce platform plans expansion

BIAC Incubators leads $800,000 Pre-Series A funding in Resal, a Jeddah-based gifting e-commerce platform.

The round also saw Derayah Ventures join in, becoming an active player in the local ecosystem; and Nayyara, a Riyadh-based events company that runs and operates business lounges and banquet halls.

Resal was founded in 2016 by serial entrepreneurs Hatem Kameli and Fouad AlFarhan. The platform helps individuals and corporates buy gifts and flowers for anyone, and have it delivered to their doorstep.

Starting from Jeddah, their service has already expanded to 30 cities in Saudi. It further expanded to two cities in Egypt and Jordan earlier this year.

Resal’s expansion and interest from investors is another sign that the MENA ecosystem is graduating from general e-commerce platforms, to niche e-marketplaces that cater to specific needs and audience.
