Mastering Tax Tech—Are CAs Ready?

In a move that’s set to make life easier for SMEs and the CAs who guide them, Tally Solutions and the ICAI Dubai Chapter have formalised their long-standing relationship. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between rapidly evolving technology, new tax laws, and the everyday practice of accountancy in the UAE.

It’s no secret that the UAE's tax landscape is changing quickly—we're talking about Corporate Tax, updates to VAT e-filing, and the looming e-invoicing mandate. For CAs, keeping up isn't just a suggestion; it's essential for their clients' survival.

What the Partnership Means on the Ground

Tally Solutions, a major player in business management software in the UAE, has signed a MoU with the ICAI Dubai Chapter, which represents a hefty group of over 3,100 active members.

The core of this collaboration is education and practical support. Over the next year, Tally will host six dedicated TallyPrime masterclasses. These aren't just lectures; they're hands-on sessions designed to give CAs practical skills in using modern accounting and compliance technology. The goal is to equip these finance professionals so they can, in turn, help SMEs simplify their processes, improve accuracy, and ultimately deliver better value.

As Vikas Panchal, General Manager of Tally Solutions MENA, explained, "Our collaboration... is a continuation of our efforts to build an ecosystem where individuals & SMEs are empowered to lead with knowledge and confidence in technology. With our Digital Tax Integration Agreement with the Federal Tax Authority, we are uniquely positioned to support CAs in understanding compliance and guiding SMEs."

The Backbone of the Economy

The ICAI Dubai Chapter’s Chairman, CA Jai Prakash Agarwal, highlighted the critical role of SMEs. He stated, “SMEs are the backbone of any economy... Tally helps in keeping that backbone strong by keeping the product simple and the process easy.” This focus on simplicity is why the collaboration between Tally and the ICAI Dubai Chapter is now entering its tenth year.

The renewal of this partnership, through the new MoU, is about more than just training. Practicing CAs who are ICAI members will also get access to the Bosses of Bookkeeping (BoB) platform and Tally's community of over 70,000 businesses in the UAE. This is a practical networking opportunity, offering CAs a chance to showcase their expertise and gain visibility with SMEs actively looking for a trusted advisor.

Furthermore, Tally experts will maintain an ongoing presence at ICAI Dubai Chapter events, offering accessible product knowledge and guidance.

In short, this collaboration is designed to make sure finance professionals are ready for the current and future regulatory and technological shifts. For CAs, it means a stronger platform to upskill and serve clients more effectively. For Tally, it solidifies their trust with the CA community, who remain vital players in the growth and compliance of SMEs across the region.
