A New Era of Digital Payroll Starts at ADIB
For many businesses in the UAE, managing payroll can still involve multiple systems, manual checks, and compliance-related paperwork. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) is aiming to simplify that process with the launch of a new digital salary payment service that allows employers to manage Wage Protection System (WPS) requirements directly through its banking platforms.
The new service enables individual employers to register employees and pay salaries through the ADIB Mobile Banking app, while corporate employers can access the same functionality through ADIB Direct. The solution has been developed in collaboration with Al Etihad Payments (AEP) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), ensuring it aligns with the UAE’s approved WPS regulatory framework.
Through the integrated service, employers can access and verify employee information, validate salary details, and submit reports on paid or unpaid salaries, including reasons where required. The platform also incorporates inside-country employee verification, helping businesses meet regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate payroll records.
For SMEs, the move could reduce the administrative burden associated with salary processing and compliance. By connecting directly with MoHRE databases through ADIB’s digital banking channels, the service removes the need for physical documentation and manual data handling.
The bank says the solution is designed to improve accuracy, transparency, and visibility for employers while strengthening compliance and reporting capabilities.
The launch forms part of ADIB’s broader digital banking strategy across its retail, SME, and corporate banking segments. It also supports the bank’s long-term vision of expanding digital, Shari’ah-compliant financial services for businesses operating in the UAE.
