Will Uzbekistan Tap into UAE’s Gateway to Global Markets?
The UAE Minister of Economy, H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, recently had an important meeting with Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, H.E. Laziz Kudratov. They discussed ways to strengthen economic collaboration between the two countries across various sectors like the new economy, tourism, entrepreneurship, SMEs, FinTech, innovation, renewable energy, transportation, logistics, and agriculture.
H.E. Bin Touq emphasised that the UAE-Uzbekistan relationship is a great model for economic partnerships that are based on mutual interests and forward-looking visions. He pointed out how both nations have solid strategic ties and have been working together across different fields. The UAE sees Uzbekistan as a key partner in Central Asia, and the meeting with the Uzbek delegation shows a commitment to enhancing partnerships in sectors that are both advanced and sustainable.
He also talked about how the UAE’s business-friendly environment and flexible legislation make it an ideal gateway for Uzbek companies to enter global markets. The country’s vast international network is an asset that businesses can leverage, and H.E. Bin Touq highlighted the UAE’s economic advantages—such as its infrastructure, national strategies, and initiatives—that attract investors from various sectors, including tourism, e-commerce, manufacturing, and sustainable transportation.
The discussion highlighted the need to strengthen ties between the private sectors of both countries to launch top-quality initiatives that contribute to shared economic objectives. There was a particular focus on partnerships in renewable energy, technology, transportation, logistics, agriculture, and food security, and the importance of supporting knowledge-sharing between the private sectors of both countries.
H.E. Bin Touq also mentioned the UAE-Uzbekistan Joint Economic Committee (JEC), which plays a crucial role in advancing bilateral relations. Before the meeting concluded, he invited the Uzbek delegation to the upcoming fourth edition of Investopia, set to take place next month. This event will offer a platform for global investors to explore the vast opportunities in the UAE while encouraging further collaboration in diverse economic fields.
