Microsoft’s ecosystem is poised to create 5,600 jobs in Bahrain

Employment opportunities on the horizon.

When a large corporation settles in a certain area, there are ripple effects that stimulate the economy of that place beyond the immediate hiring of employees and purchasing of products and real estate by that company. Think about one of the most high-profile cases, where Amazon was considering several cities for their new headquarters in North America. Politicians saw the potential benefits that this would bring to their constituencies, and were willing to provide many benefits to the company in order to have Amazon open their new headquarters in their area. Ultimately, the company chose Long Island in New York City as well as Crystal City in North Virginia.

However, these ripple effects occur on many occasions, not necessarily when a company establishes its new headquarters. Recently, the International Data Corporation (IDC) published a report about the effects of the Microsoft ecosystem on Bahrain’s economy, and estimated that it would create around 5,600 jobs by the end of 2022. IDC stated that the Microsoft ecosystem itself is a prolific generator of ripple effects, accounting for BD10.57 for every BD1 that Microsoft produces in revenue.
