Jordan launches its first AgriTech accelerator

Food security is on the horizon.

Accelerators have become more common in the Middle East and North Africa, as the startup ecosystem sees an increase in interest from public and private entities alike. With the launch of these accelerators, including international ones such as TechStars, Plug and Play and Brinc, there has been an increase in the number of specialised accelerators as well. For example, there are certain accelerator programmes – like StartupBootcamp FinTech – that focus on one specific sector in order to specialise in a promising industry.

Recently, a new specialised accelerator was launched in Jordan. The programme is called HASSAD, and is active in the AgriTech industry. It consists of a 3-month business acceleration programme, supported by local Jordanian firm ITG Solution, to support startups within the agricultural sector.

Through the programme, HASSAD aims to catalyse the development of the agricultural sector in Jordan through innovative AgriTech startups. Read more about the programme and its focus here.
