Abu Dhabi’s investment firm Mubadala enters the United States

Looks to invest in promising startups and venture capital firms.

When asked to name one place in the world that people associate most with startups and venture capital, Silicon Valley is probably the first to be mentioned. Over the last decades, the Californian area has become the Mecca for budding entrepreneurs and investors alike, hoping to become the next Microsoft or Facebook. As a result, the region attracts some of the top talent from across the United States and even the world; which of course is very attractive for investors that are looking for cutting-edge startups to invest in.

Mubadala, the investment firm from Abu Dhabi, has recently announced that it will launch a US-based venture capital arm to its business, in order to invest in promising startups and venture capital firms. The team will initially oversee three main business areas including Mubadala Ventures Fund I, a $400 million venture capital fund that has received investment from two main investors, Mubadala and Japan’s SoftBank. It will also run a $200 million Fund of Funds, which is a fund that it invests in fund managers and venture capital firms.
