Abu Dhabi Chamber Champions Small Businesses with Dedicated Working Group

ADCCI establishes a group to empower startups and SMEs, aiming to support economic development and diversify the economy, aligning with Abu Dhabi's vision.

Aiming at supporting the entrepreneurial landscape in Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched a working group focused on startups and SMEs. The announcement mentions ADCCI's commitment to positioning Abu Dhabi as the premier destination for business in the MENA region by the year 2025.

The newly established Startups and SMEs Working Group, operating under the auspices of ADCCI, is tasked with advocating for the interests of startups and SMEs registered in Abu Dhabi. With a primary objective of empowering businesses and enhancing their contribution to the emirate's economic development, the working group will collaborate closely with government agencies and the private sector to address challenges faced by enterprises in the sector and lead economic diversification.

Startups and SMEs play a crucial role in Abu Dhabi's economic landscape, employing over 46 percent of the emirate's workforce and contributing to its non-oil GDP, accounting for 42.8 percent. Recognising their importance, the working group will prioritise understanding the needs and requirements of startups and SMEs, facilitating their growth, and enabling them to thrive in a competitive market environment.

His Excellency Fouad Darwish, Board Member of ADCCI and Chairman of the Startups and SMEs Working Group, emphasised the group's commitment to developing plans and proposing policies aimed at attracting startups and SMEs to promising sectors, particularly those experiencing rapid technological advancements. Additionally, the group will spearhead various programs and initiatives made to provide startups and SMEs with essential guidance and skills while favouring cooperation and knowledge exchange among stakeholders.

Commenting on the establishment of the working group, His Excellency Ahmed Khalifa Al Qubaisi, CEO of ADCCI, highlighted its importance in advancing the growth trajectory of the startup and SME sector. He attributed the sector's qualitative leap in recent years to collaborative efforts between ADCCI and government entities, aimed at creating an enabling environment conducive to the sector's growth.

The formation of the Startups and SMEs Working Group underscores ADCCI's commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development in Abu Dhabi. By building bridges between government entities and the private sector, the working group aims to attract investors and promote a competitive economy aligned with Abu Dhabi's long-term vision for the next fifty years.
